Recipes were adapted due to wartime shortages so holidays would still be special times with traditional foods to share with friends and family.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Easter Biscuits<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>6 oz.plain flour<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 tsp salt<\/li>\n<li>1 level tablespoon dried egg, DRY<\/li>\n<li>1 \u00bd level teaspoons mixed spice (a mix of cinnamon, nutmeg, &amp; allspice, similar to US Pumpkin Pie Spice)<\/li>\n<li>2 oz. margarine and lard, mixed<\/li>\n<li>2 level tablespoons sugar<\/li>\n<li>Cold water to mix<\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Method:<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<li>Mix flour, salt, egg, and spice. Rub in fat and add sugar. Mix to a stiff dough with cold water and roll out thinly. Cut into shapes and bake in a moderate oven (375\u00b0F) until crisp and golden brown.
